Our People

Wellbeing

With physical and mental wellbeing closely linked, we work hard to give our teams the resources and support they need to thrive both inside and outside of work.

Mental Health First Aiders

We have a dedicated, fully trained team of Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) on hand to provide initial help to anyone experiencing symptoms of poor mental health. In addition to promoting awareness across the business, our MHFAs listen impartially and confidentially, and can signpost colleagues to professional sources of support.

Cycle to Work Scheme

Our Cycle to Work Scheme offers all Foster and Gamko employees access to discounted bikes and safety equipment, payable monthly straight from their salaries. Active commuting has widely recognised benefits for reducing stress and depression, alongside significant environmental advantages. We actively promote this initiative with annual Cycle to Work Day events.

Health and training

While we can’t back up the saying ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’ with scientific data, we do provide free fresh fruit to everyone, every day, in our on-site canteen. Our teams are also trained regularly on office ergonomics, industrial ergonomics, health and safety, and more to ensure a safe, comfortable working environment.

Charity and Community

From bake sales to epic sporting challenges, Foster and Gamko can always be relied upon to give 100% when supporting charities and our local community.

Recent endeavours have included a half Ironman distance triathlon, a companywide walking challenge to raise funds for The Norfolk Hospice, ‘Wear it Pink’ fundraising for Breast Cancer Now, a ‘Movember’ bake sale for men’s health charities, and corporate support for the Prince’s Trust ‘Change a Girl’s Life’ campaign.

We are hugely proud of the many team members who regularly fulfil volunteer roles alongside their day jobs, including:

  • Retained firefighters
  • A refugee charity support volunteer
  • A junior parkrun run director
  • A Girlguiding leader

Our team also regularly supports the community with local, hands-on events such as beach cleans.

Norfolk Wildlife Trust ‘Investors in Wildlife’

Foster and Gamko are proud to be Norfolk Wildlife Trust ‘Investors in Wildlife’. We were given this accolade following our donation of energy-saving refrigeration equipment to support their Holme Dunes Reserve. The charity has been protecting Norfolk’s wildlife for almost a century, safeguarding diverse habitats such as beaches, commons, and marshland across the county.

Diversity and Inclusion

Foster and Gamko team members benefit from access to a wide range of international employee resource groups via our parent company, ITW. Providing both in-person and online activities, these groups play a pivotal role in bringing together diverse people and allies, ensuring that their skills and talents are nurtured and supported to achieve their full potential.

  • ITW Women's Network: Actively engages female colleagues in networking and leadership development.
  • Pride at ITW: Focused on empowering LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies through building a sense of belonging and engagement, while promoting shared respect and understanding of LGBTQ+ issues.
  • Young Professionals Network: Empowers early-in-career professionals by building a community for our next generation of leadership through social platforms, networking activities, and development opportunities.

Global Cooling

It is our firm belief that ‘every job is a climate job’. Throughout the business, we work hard to achieve our sustainability goals and improve our local and global environment for generations to come.

Our teams are fully immersed in this process, and we actively encourage suggestions for improving sustainability in our day-to-day working lives. From our research and development team, to the production line, all the way to our offices, we know that everyone can make a difference in reducing our carbon emissions.
