Recommissioning your refrigeration

If you're reopening after a period of inactivity, whether its school holidays or lock downs, its important that your refrigeration equipment is able to operate efficiently and safely upon startup. Foster Refrigerator have therefore produced the following guide to recommissioning your refrigeration equipment.

This guide assumes that the equipment has previously been decommissioned inline with the manufacturer’s recommendations, however in certain circumstances this may not have been possible. In such cases we would recommend contacting the Foster service team for a call in preference to following the below recommissioning procedure.

  1. Check to ensure the product is isolated from electrical supply and the plug has been removed from the socket.
  2. Visually inspect cabinet

If there are signs of mould growth or an unusual smell emanating from the interior then it would be recommended that you make contact with the foster service team for further advice.

  1. Clean internal surfaces with sanitiser solution (D10)
  2. Ensure that any sanitiser is subsequently washed off with clean fresh water
  3. Dry down interior as much as practically possible
  4. Restore the electrical supply and power on the refrigeration system through the controller
  5. Ensure that the equipment is down to temperature prior to loading with product
  6. Your equipment is now ready to resume normal service.

Recommissioning guidelines

  1. Check to ensure the product is isolated from the electrical supply and the plug has been removed from the socket.
  2. Visually inspect the unit

    If there are signs of mould growth or an unusual smell emanating from the interior then it would be recommended that you make contact with the Foster service team for further advice.

  3. Establish the water supply by connecting the water inlet hose and restore the cold water supply. This should be performed by professionally qualified personnel only
  4. Clean accessible internal surfaces with sanitiser solution (D10)
  5. Add a dose of ice machine cleaner to the product and operate as per cleaning guidelines in the operating instructions
  6. Operate the unit for 3 complete cycles, disposing of the ice each time to ensure that all traces of sanitiser have been flushed clear of the equipment
  7. Your ice machine is now ready for normal service.
